“Anything but boring!” Rik continues his story enthusiastically. “I am involved in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, pricing strategies, and fiscal aspects. It’s not just about the numbers, but also about processes, risks, and underlying strategies. Almost every decision within a company has financial implications, so I get to ‘meddle’ in everything. This makes my work varied and enjoyable and fosters connections with colleagues from all departments.”
Strong, passionate team
“That’s not so difficult at Packit, because we are a compact, transparent organization. We are open with each other and know what we can expect from one another. The atmosphere is good, and it’s nice to see how everyone is involved with our products. The desks are full of samples, and judging by the smell, some colleagues have tested our new laundry fragrance. And then the joy when something actually works as we envisioned. That’s great. A new colleague recently remarked with surprise that we have something to celebrate almost every day here. Working here matters and is appreciated. But we also dare to address each other’s mistakes. This makes us a very strong team and contributes to ensuring quality.”
Financial health as a basis for trust
Rik is clear about the importance of his work at Packit: “It sounds simple, but if the pot of money isn’t there, we can’t deliver. A financially healthy organization is able to meet its obligations and offers stability and predictability. That builds trust. Furthermore, I see it as my task to ensure that everyone can do their job well. That a VAT number on the invoice is correct, for example, but also the correct use of the ERP system as a strategic management tool. The goal is a financially healthy organization, but also as little hassle as possible for our customers, suppliers, and colleagues.”

Growing company
Rik has been working at Packit for 3 years. He lives in the Hoeksche Waard and is happy with a challenging position close to home. “Before this I worked, among other things, at a listed company in the city. Packit is not inferior to the big players in terms of size and challenge, but has the advantage of the personal, agile and decisive of an SME company. In other words, the best of both worlds. The organization is growing and offers plenty of opportunities. Especially now that we are doing more and more business in Europe, my position becomes even more interesting. Different market conditions, different tax rules and local economic conditions and risks are all things to take into account. It makes my job varied and fun, so I enjoy going to work every day. And thanks to great colleagues, of course! We really do this together.”
