"Not the product, but the person at the center."

Hanneke has been working at Packit since 2014. She is a Customer Operations Manager, but according to her, ‘Relationship Manager’ is a better fit. “At Packit, we have a strong customer focus. Understanding who you’re dealing with and what their real needs are. Only then do the products follow.”

Building Sustainable Relationships

Hanneke started as an Account Manager in 2014. She is now responsible for the internal sales department and Supply Chain as Customer Operations Manager.

“A pivotal role between the work floor, organizational strategy, and the customer,” Hanneke explains her position. “At Packit, sales isn’t about products, but about people. If you want people to perform better, you need to understand their needs. What do they consider important and what challenges do they face? It’s our task to figure this out. Taking care of everything may sound commonplace nowadays, but that’s what we strive to do. And preferably with that extra step.”

Next Level Service

By ‘that extra step,’ Hanneke refers to, among other things, simplifying processes. She explains: “Large retailers have complex structures. They sometimes deal with thousands of documents, certificates, and regulations. We understand what it’s about and know the market. We ensure everything behind the scenes is in order. But we also like to do things differently on the front end. Tenders and product presentations, for example, we package in an original way. Surprising and creative, but in true Rotterdam style: clear and to the point.”

Open Culture

“This is who we are. Also among colleagues,” Hanneke continues. “There’s an informal work atmosphere here, but we’re serious when needed. We enjoy what we do, and that leads to different conversations. Including with customers. Many of them have been visiting us for years. Then it’s not just about garbage bags, but also about football results. The contact is very enjoyable.”

According to Hanneke, the open culture also ensures that employees at Packit experience a lot of freedom. “Because not everything is set in stone, you have a lot of influence as an employee. If you think something can be done differently or better, we’re open to it. BUT we also honestly say if we don’t like something. We tell it like it is. That direct tone might take some getting used to, but with us, you always know where you stand. That gives both employees and customers confidence.”
