Packit falls under the category of ‘trader’ and must therefore fully comply with the EUDR by the end of 2025. This means that from January 1, 2026, we must be able to demonstrate that our products do not contribute to deforestation. Fortunately, sustainability and transparency have been embedded in our business operations for years. We continue to proactively invest in systems and processes that meet the new requirements.
What does the EUDR entail?
The EUDR is intended to combat deforestation and forest degradation by imposing stricter requirements on products originating from risk areas. Companies must be able to demonstrate that their products do not contribute to deforestation, including by:
- Providing geolocation data of the origin of raw materials;
- Applying due diligence to suppliers and chain partners;
- Guaranteeing full traceability within the supply chain.
What does this mean for Packit?
As a trader, we are required to report according to the EUDR by December 31, 2025. Our collaboration with local and international partners, such as Van der Mark Logistiek, enables us to switch quickly and make our chain transparent. We also take sustainability as a starting point within our product development and purchasing processes.
Our vision: responsibility above regulation
At Packit, we believe that sustainability does not start with legislation, but with responsibility. The EUDR confirms what we have known for some time: transparency and diligence are essential for a future-proof packaging industry.
