Packit is growing, and that requires more space. It was logistics partner Van der Mark who came up with the idea: Would it be something to do together? Leen did not hesitate for a second. “The collaboration is solid and this is the most beautiful location in the Hoeksche Waard! Right by the water, with a view of a nature reserve and space to show what we do. Furthermore, the move represents a huge leap in efficiency, as we will soon be able to centralize our operations.”
The new office will be three times the size of the current location, providing room for growth. The choice was easily made.
The building as a statement
Everything is new. Sustainably built, ergonomically designed. Toilets that flush with rainwater and a roof entirely covered in solar panels. A building designed for multiple generations. Not a temporary solution, but a statement, as Leen calls it. The new building says more about Packit than any brochure ever could.
Leen: “From the offices, you look directly into the warehouse. Customers and suppliers see the quality control, the scale of the operation, and the full range of products. Until now, that had to be explained or filmed. If you drive past here now, you have no idea what lies behind that facade. That is changing. We want customers and suppliers to see exactly who we are and what we can do. Not because we have to prove anything, but because we are proud of it.”
The lab grows with us
Packit has had an internal laboratory for years. In Puttershoek, it will be twice as large and significantly upgraded. With a new spectrum analysis device, material composition and product quality can be tested at a detailed level. Not only for bags, but also for liquids and other materials. Useful for tenders, convincing for retailers, and a solid foundation for sustainable product development.
Leen explains: “At Packit, quality is not just a nice promise; we make it demonstrable. We can use hard data to show what a product is truly worth. That provides reassuring certainty for customers and an extra way for us to make a difference.”
Improvements for the staff too
The colleagues will also see improvements, of course, because alongside hard work, there will soon be space to relax. At the bar, in the gym, or outside. “We have thought of everything, just as we do for our customers,” Leen continues. “A pleasant place to work, but also to unwind for a moment. People should feel at home here. The team is really looking forward to it. We recently organized a viewing day, and colleagues enjoy taking a detour on their bikes to follow the progress of the new building. We regularly receive photos.”
A smooth transition
According to Leen, customers and suppliers will notice very little of the move. He laughs: “This is the fifth time we have moved. We know how it works by now, and we ensure that continuity is maintained.”
So customers won’t notice a thing, except that visiting Packit will soon be even more impressive. And that bar? They are building it themselves, together with colleagues and a few handy carpenters. Just doing it themselves. The move marks a new phase, but the approach remains the same: Doing it the Packit way.
