How does it work? Internal high-grade recycling
Packit delivers products (including waste bags) on pallets with wrap film to Action’s distribution center. Here, the PE wrap film is collected, and when sufficient volume is reached, it is picked up by Action’s recycling partner. The film is then processed into plastic granulate, which serves as the basis for new waste bags. For this, we work together with our trusted European waste bag manufacturer. In this way, we ensure a flow from residual product to a new assortment product, in which the retailer has also played a part.
Wrap film becomes drawstring bag
In this case, it’s the Dumil Drawstring Bag. Just as strong and tear-resistant as the traditional Dumil drawstring bags, but made from recycled material.
We initially launched with the 34-liter variant. This variant is now available in Belgian Action stores. And as far as we are concerned, this is just the beginning. All parties involved have responded with great enthusiasm, and we are exploring expansion into other countries and products.
Stable raw material
Because wrap film is a mono-material, it is much easier and more efficient to recycle into a pure and reusable raw material. We also have to deal less with fluctuations of raw materials in the market, and there is increased security of supply.
