Never grocery shopping normally again

Since joining Packit, Christiane says she can never walk through a store normally again. “I don’t focus on the flavor of the tea, but on whether the logo is correctly positioned on the packaging.” It is surprising how much is involved in something that seems so obvious on the shelf.
According to Christiane, Careers at Packit are incredibly interesting. She says: “You learn something here every day. Legislation changes, markets change, and Packit changes with them. Environmental requirements, certifications, the language on the packaging, and the regulations per country. You have to take many details into account. And every single time. That keeps you sharp.” She laughs: “And a bit young, too.”

From passengers to pallets

Christiane moved to the Netherlands in March 2017. She learned the Dutch language and started looking for a job. Through a recruitment agency, she joined Packit in November 2018. It was a major transition. Previously, she worked as a ground stewardess for Air France KLM. A completely different industry, but at Packit, it’s also about timing, details, and ensuring everything ‘departs’ on time. As a Back Office Support employee, Christiane is responsible for order processing.

“Packit was looking for someone who knows the French market and speaks the language. I could do that, but I really had to learn the rest. What happens to an order once it’s shipped. How logistics work. How to look at an item: the product, the language on the packaging, the logos. Colleagues really took the time. I wanted to understand the entire process. Then you don’t just know how it should be done, but also where things can go wrong. Staying ahead of that, so everything runs smoothly, without delays!”

“I wanted to understand the entire process. Because if you know where things can go wrong, you can stay ahead of them. No surprises. No delays.”

Ambition

In addition to processing orders, Christiane assists where necessary with translations and checking artwork for the French market. Because that, too, is more complex than it seems: every market, every language, and every regulation requires a different perspective. “Legislation and quality—I find that very interesting. I would like to delve deeper into this once I master the subtleties of the Dutch language.”

Work-life balance

What makes Packit truly special for her is not just the work, but also the great atmosphere. Colleagues who support one another and an employer who understands that life exists outside the office. “My mother in Paris needed care. When I had to go there, there was understanding. No pressure, no questions. That balance is truly special. Of course, it’s hard work, but there is always room for a joke, for each other, and for what’s happening at home. Packit takes care of it. Even when it’s not about work.”
